MIM # 251 Gradient Watercolor Die Cuts

Dawn has a video over at Capture the Moment showing how she used watercolors to make a gradient look on die cuts.
I added a few flower sequins from one of Betsy's Kits and called it good.  I used the Zig water color pens.
This die is from PTI: Paper Clippings:  Thank You.
These are a couple of Dawn's cards:

Merry Monday ~ Santa's Sack

Nina is our Merry Maker and she has asked us to make a card using a sack or bag...that being Santa's sack or bag!!
This was a NBUS stamp from Serendipity called "Santa in Chimney" and lucky for me he has his sack on his back!!

I stamped it twice, colored the sack and the toys inside, then I fussy cut it and adhered it on top with some dimensional tape. I used a B32 copic to go around the whole image.

The background was made using a PTI stencil with three distress inks for an ombre look.

Please join us over at the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge Blog and play along...go check out the amazing cards from the rest of the team!

CAS(E) this Sketch # 174

I took a break from planting flowers to make a card!
There is a sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch
and you all know I am needing sympathy and the praying for you kind of cards, I love this flower image from Altenew called Best Mom.
I colored it up with copics (greens: YG03,G14,BG13 and violets: BV00, V15, V17)
I am playing with different combinations of colors, I would never have thought to use BG13 with my greens for leaves, but I really like it!!

My sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday:  Appreciated, I embossed it on vellum.
Here is the inside of the card:
and here is the sketch:
I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday weekend and remember all our men and women fighting for our freedom.

Colour Q # 343

I am looking at challenges for more sympathy inspiration.
I found one at the Colour Q # 343.
I saw this technique HERE and loved it and thought it would be perfect for a sympathy card.

stamps & die: HA Tall wheat, PTI Asian Fusion, PTI Happy Trails (butterfly)
distress inks:  abandoned cora, scattered straw
washi tape, sequins
I layered the butterfly three times before adhering it into the space
While I was at it, I decided to make three of them, here are the other two:
I changed up the colors, but at least I have three sympathy cards now!

PTI May Blog Hop

I saw all those yummy colors in the inspiration photo and thought of this quilt piece.  I noticed the Popsicle bars were ombre in color, so I stamped each of the groupings in light to darker shades.  I have a friend that had a major stroke and I am visiting her tonight, she is home but needs 24 hour care because of the disability she is experiencing right now.  We are praying that she will be able to improve all of her body parts to move as they are supposed to!  I am going to bring this card to her along with some flowers!

You can go here to read the rules and here is the photo:

Make It Monday # 250

Yikes!  I am all out of sympathy and praying for you cards!
I thought I would use the Make it Monday to start building up my stash again.

Laurie Willison has a video up HERE to see how she masked off part of her card to get a very nice frame around her sponging.
I used PTI aqua mist, hawaiian shores, and tropical teal on my card.
I pulled out an older PTI set called "Life" and stamped it in black.
My sentiment is from an older set also called Asian Fusion.
Here is Laurie's card:

Seize the Birthday ~ All about Dimension!

We have a topping for our Seize the Birthday Challenge!

We are asking for dimension on your BIRTHDAY card!
I die cut the Friendship Jar Flowers (PTI) and inked it up, and sponged on a little darker green for added dimension.  I cut out the roses and added dimensional tape to some and others I glued down.  I adhered the panel to the card with fun foam.
My sentiment is from PTI: Stylish Sentiments.

Our topping is adding dimension to your card, however you can always make any kind of BIRTHDAY CARD!
We look forward to seeing what you create!
I hope you will check out the rest of the design team for more inspiration!

JUST US GIRLS Challenge meets CAS Mix-Up Challenge

I saw Jennifer McGuire water color on vellum using both Wink of Stella and the newer Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens.  I had to give it a try and enter ONE more card into the JUGS Challenge which asks for vellum! that is the "trend for this week"  and right on, because the last Online class was all about vellum and acetate on cards! (A friend gifted the class to me, sweet, right?)

This is the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set that was white embossed and then colored with red  and clear Wink of Stella.  After adding a bit of the red, I pulled it out with the clear to help give it some dimension and coloration (is that the right word?)  Other than clear WOS, I have gold and a silver, however I picked up a red the other day to give this technique a try.  I used gold for the leaves because I didn't have green!  And it is sad that we can't capture the sparkle on camera because it really does shine!  I embossed the sentiment in gold to tie in with the gold leaves.  And, I did color on the right side, not the back of the image!
I think this card is very elegant looking!
EDITED TO ADD:  Loll reminded me that I could also enter this card in the CAS Mix-UP Challenge, so I am linking this card to that challenge also...you need to emboss on your card, stamp and your choice!

Thanks for stopping by and having a look!

Merry Monday ~ Snow Globe!

Glad you stopped by for another Merry Monday Christmas card challenge...I hope you came from the MM blog to see all the other inspiration from the design team!
My BFF Linda selected this theme and she wants us to use a snow globe on our Christmas card.  I found this digital stamp from Power Poppy and had to use it!
I colored it up with copics and fussy cut it out.
The background piece is a snowflake stencil from Echo Park Paper co. and I used dreamweaver translucent embossing paste,
The sentiment is from PTI Christmas cheer.

Are you getting a good supply of Christmas cards for your stash?
I sure hope you play along each week, so you will have all your cards done and can concentrate on the other delights of Christmas, like baking, shopping, spending time with the family!!

JUGS with vellum

My friend is going to be a grandmother for the third time, her son and daughter-in-law is expecting their first child in August and I am invited to the shower.  My daughter needed a baby girl gift also, so we bought a cute outfit from Gymboree.
It is a little onsie with bottoms that have cute little giraffte faces on the feet!
The giraffe on the onsie is yellow, so I made the card to be like the outfit.
My vellum is striped and I layered it over a lovely lady pink cardstock.
I am entering this in the JUGS challenge also.

Just Us Girls # 343

Hi friends, I have a very rainy Sunday here, so I don't have to feel guilty about playing inside!
Today I am joining JUGS again, I saw that they were asking for vellum as that seems to be the trend these days.  And oddly enough I have three cards that I used vellum!  Just a coincidence too!
I first saw this technique called Watercolor Bleaching by Kelly over at her blog.
I thought I would give it a try with some random stamps from the SOA called Enchanted Garden by Sugar Pea Designs.  I white embossed all my flowers and leaves, then I used four distress inks and blended them all over and over again.  I started with wild honey at the bottom and worked my way up, then I used abandoned coral, fired brick and worn lipstick.
The bleaching happens (without bleach!) by using water on a brush and then dabbing it off .  Because distress inks react to water, it pulls the color out and makes it look like it was bleached out.

My sentiment is from PTI called Bold & Beautiful and it was stamped and embossed with white on vellum.  I also splattered water drops from my paintbrush, and I wanted some white drops too, so I used a pin and my pearl acrylic paint to make some small white dots.

The last thing I did was use copics to go around the outline of the stamps being careful to not touch the embossed outline with my copic pen.

MIM # 248 Ink Blending through die Cut Masks

The new MIM from Lizzie is about making masks from our die cuts and then ink blending to make our card.  Her hearts were gorgeous!
I thought I would use balloons!

die cuts for balloons:  balloon bash, heart to heart birthday balloons, birthday style
die cut word:  Tip Top
Other stamps:  Keep it Simple: birthday, Wonderful words Birthday
Inks:  summer sunrise, bright buttercup, hawaiian shores, green parakeet, tropical teal, berry sorbet
I also used a gelly roll pen to draw the strings from the balloons

here is Lizzie's card:
MIM 248 You Make Me Happy Card

Now I have plants to plant, so better get to it before it is too hot!
Go out and make it a great day...do something unexpected for someone!
