Paper Players and Stamp Nation Day 4

Stamp Nation Day 4 is all about food!
And I followed the sketch for the Paper Players # 242
For the Stamp Nation Day 4 Virtual Retreat the challenge was to use a food item on your card...who doesn't like ice cream?

The paper is from a Make It Market Kit from PTI, I thought it kind of looked like sprinkles!
Thanks for taking a look!

Merry Monday # 156

The Merry Monday Challenge is to use Pine cones, Greens and the word BELIEVE.
I used PTI Peaceful Pinecones and my MISTI to double stamp and to have the leaves be in the same corner of the card.  After everything was stamped, I then cut it out using a Lil' Inkers Stitched rectangle die.  The "believe" (a  little yellow bicycle die) is cut from gold foil paper and once from white.  The gold sequins are from PPP.
I added a little bit of gold Wink of Stella to the pine cone tips.

MIM & The Challenge plus a Baby card

First I want to share a baby shower card because I need it!
My nephew and his wife are expecting a baby in June and there is a 'couples' shower next week.
I asked my niece if she knew what their color scheme for the baby's room was or if they had a 'theme' (thinking, airplanes, baby animals, etc).
I was told NO themes that she knew but their colors were black, gray, white with splashes of red!  Okay then....
So I pulled out Mama Elephants:  Ellie and Friends (cause you know elephants are 'gray'!) and this is what evolved!
Little piglet was colored with the "C" copic colors and Ellie was colored with the "W's".  I was going to have Ellie blow red bubbles, then it evolved to the umbrella) cause it is a "shower" and then because we needed rain, I thought it could rain hearts because again, it is a BABY!
So there you have it, my baby shower card...BTW it is a BOY!

MIM # 210  is using vellum to soften patterns.
I pulled out Wishes come True and stamped the dotty candle in rainbow colors for my background.
The vellum is a tag and the sentiment is new from Graceful Greetings along with a smaller sentiment from Wishes come True.
I am also entering this in "The Challenge"
which asks for "dots" on your paper!  yahoo, I have lots of dots on this card!

Thanks so much for taking a look!

Mother's Day Cards

I am getting ready for a big sale of cards at our Church's Mother's Day Luncheon.
Here is the last one I made, I think I have about 15 now, so I might be done...but then again, I might be inspired to make more!
I had just received my PTI order and got the Big Banter Banner with those wonderful big sentiments.  It comes with two dies so you can make the back side of the banner as it is folded to be a different color...if that makes sense.  I used the raspberry fizz striped pattern paper for both the banner and the side piece.  I stamped the Bitty Bouquet flowers with pure poppy and that little 'mother's day' stamp is from an old Tag It's # 2.

Again, I just liking making cards for fun sometimes, not for any challenges.
These will all go in my stash and be sold at the luncheon...so I am making a lot of "thinking of you" kind of cards as well as the Mother's Day cards.  I may need to get busy with more 'get well' and sympathy and praying for you cards too!
When I made some others, I made four of each kind, maybe just trading out the colors of the flowers like these:

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
I hope you all have a great week!

PTI April Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo
You can go HERE to play along with this months Blog Hop!

I don't know if you can tell or not, but I used the striped cover plate and turned it to get the woven look, which reminded me of the placemat.  I chose a Beautiful Brushstrokes rose and colored it with sweet blush, hibiscus burst and raspberry fizz.  The leaves are spring moss and simply chartreuse.  My sentiment from Happy Hydrangea was embossed on vellum.  the card base is soft stone.

Seize the Birthday ~ Own background stamping

The Seize the Birthday Challenge is to make your own background if you want to join in the fun with the added topping!  You are always welcome to just make ANY KIND OF BIRTHDAY CARD, AS ANYTHING GOES!

I had a granddaughter stay with me for a few days and we were having fun stamping.  I told her I needed a card and I had to make my own background.  She asked me to explain what that meant...so I gave her some examples and pulled out a few stamp sets.  We set them aside and went to bed.  The next morning she woke early and came in and got busy and WOW did she impress me with her background stamping. Here is her card: AND yes! She colored the elephant from WPlu9 "unforgettable" herself!

And here is my card:
I used Avery Elle's Petals and Stems for the flowers and a PTI set called:  Lovely Laurels for the sentiment.  The scalloped edge is a Mama elephant die called: Landscape Trio.
I used PTI berry sorbet, winter wisteria and simply chartreuse for the ink.

The topping is MAKING YOUR OWN BACKGROUND!

REMEMBER, YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE ANY KIND OF CARD AS LONG AS IT IS A BIRTHDAY CARD!

CASology # 143 OMBRE

I love the Ombre look on cards and that is the challenge for
CASology this week.
I had the PTI Monthly Moments Journal Card #5 laying on my desk and thought I would use it!  so I sponged on some distress inks:  peacock feathers, salty ocean and chipped sapphire.  A layered a piece of lemon tart paper behind it to give the illusion of a starlit night!
The sweet elephant is from WPlus9:Unforgettable and the sentiment was a free stamp from Lawn Fawn, received with an order...I thought that was appropriate and thinking it sure would be a BIG hug, coming from an elephant!!  *wink
Thanks for taking a look!

MIM 3 209 white on white die cuts with a pop of color

Lexi Daly has a video showing her technique of white on white die cuts with a pop of color over at Nichole Heady's Blog!  I love it!
I went really simple this time using a word from Wet Paint.
Sometimes a simple thank you (repeated) is all that is needed...of course the inside has a little bit more to say!

We are supposed to get to 79 degrees today!!  Yahoo, love the sun!
Go out and make it a great week, friends and "Thanks" for stopping by!

Merry Monday ~ Cat or dog!

Welcome to another Merry Monday Challenge!
My card was selected as the winner a couple of weeks ago and now I have the honor of being a Guest Designer!
I was a bit worried when I found out the challenge included having a cat or dog on the card.
Fortunately I had this digi on my computer from Whimsy Stamps...they have darling images.
This one is called:  "Berry" and I colored her with copics.

I hope you will be inspired to play along this week!
And thank you again you wonderful ladies from Merry Monday Design Team for selecting my card as the winner!
It was certainly a surprise!
Hope you all have a glorious week!

Stuck in the Middle with you!

Simon Says Stamps has a new Monday challenge:
"Stuck in the middle with you"!
I saw this technique demonstrated on Jennifer McGuire's blog and thought I would give it a try with those cute elephants from WPlus 9.
Now this is not to say there are triplets...just thought it was a cute card and I do love those little guys!
And the one with the balloon is "stuck in the middle"!
Thanks for taking a look!

The Challenge # 30

This week's  "The Challenge" is a color challenge:

I thought I would try something new and different!
I taped down the two colors, red and hawaiian shores and then stamped an outline flower stamp and leaf stamp on them (of course I taped off the top and bottom!)
stamps:  Verve: Abundant Blessings
Die:  PTI Swoosh
paper: PTI white, red, hawiian shores and smokey gray

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Celebration # 102

Stampin' Celebration has a new inspiration challenge up:

Stamps used are:  PTI: Be Happy, Bigger Blooms and Bitty Bouquet
Inks:  HA soft granite, PTI harvest gold, new leaf, simply chartreuse
I finally received the dies for the Bitty Bouquet...they have been OOS since the release.
Thanks for taking a look!

Heart Hugs!

Playing today

I made a card just because...no challenges, although after I finished this card I thought I should have at least looked for a color challenge!!
I purchased this die on Saturday it is an Impression Obsession called Heart Stems...so this is what I made with it:
I "smooshed" scattered straw and peacock feathers distress inks onto a clear cardstock and then smooshed it onto my watercolor paper.  I die cut the vase (PTI Mega Gracious Vases) and smooshed some paper with gathered twigs to give the vase a different kind of look.
The sentiment is from MFT: Fall Foliage and stamped with kraft ink onto a PTI Keep it Simple banner.  I added a strip of the kraft striped PTI paper to the side for added interest.
Well, that is it for now...this took all day, not sure why!
But I have been skyping with my friend Linda and I don't think she has a card to show for her time spent in the studio, but she has played around a lot and sometimes we just need to play to get an idea!

Have a great week friends!

Merry Monday ~ Angel

It seems I have a limited amount of angel stamps...I chose the Paper Smooches set called:  A Blessed Christmas.
I actually made three cards...here is the one I am submitting to The Merry Monday Angel Challenge
and it is actually the third card I made!

I first found a sketch and thought that would be fun and I could use some of my coveted pattern paper:
And although this is nice, I really do like a more clean and simple look to my cards (how am I ever going to use all my wonderful designer paper??)
Then I made this card:
when I laid it out I knew it needed something in the corners, so I tried a few different things and settled on some holly sprigs...still not quite what I was looking for...so then I thought of stars...YES!!  that is so heavenly, why didn't I think of that first?

stamps:  Paper Smooches: A Blessed Christmas, and stars are from Mama Elephant: Make a Wish, the holly is from PTI Tinsel & Tags Sprigs
gold thread
die:  MFT stitched square mat
paper:  MME: A Merry Little Christmas
Have a great weekend friends!

The Challenge # 29

I am playing along with The Challenge this week..it is a sketch and a good way to use up some of the pattern papers we have in our stash!

stamps:  PTI petite pots
paper:  Doodlebug:  hello spring paper pad

Seize the Birthday ~ Tall & Skinny

The first thing I did was go to my envelope stash and I found a legal size envelope that I have had for a number of years...and this was my inspiration:

I think I have had these envelopes for about 15 years or longer...a wedding anniversary celebration!  I decided to stamp a SSS Birthday Balloon stamp in Delicata Gold ink up the page and layer them all in one big balloon bouquet!
My strings were made with the gold Wink of Stella!
The sentiment is from an Avery Elle set called Cake and Candles.  I stamped the balloons close to the edge, then with a pencil and ruler made a line for me to hand cut around all the balloons.  A strip of striped PTI paper was taped to INSIDE on the back edge of the card so it shows through.
The sentiment was stamped with matching ink of winter wisteria.

I hope you will join all of us in this Seize the Birthday Challenge.  The topping for this challenge is to make a Tall & Skinny card!  However, you all know you can always just make any kind of birthday card as ANYTHING GOES!
TALL & SKINNY is the topping!

A birthday linky party for Monika

Sweet Monika from Creative with Monika is having herself a linky birthday party!  It is very easy to join in her celebration as she has selected her own cards to CAS!
I can't decide if this should fall into simply the CAS category or the "cute and funny", YOU decide, Monika!
The party lasts ALL month!
Thanks Monika for asking us to join in your celebration birthday!  Happy happy, Birthday friend!!

Hugs from Oregon!!
Colleen

MIM # 208 Ombre Stamping

I enjoyed sponging the stamps and getting the ombre look with all these different inks.
You can find this challenge and technique at Capture the Moment . Laurie Willison has a video up on Nichole's blog with this tehcnique.  I like sponging on the stamp versus trying to use the ink pad, I almost always get the ink pad lines across my image!
stamps:  Funky Florals, Bitty Bouquet
Inks:  tropical teal, Haw.shores, aqua mist;  terra cotta tile, orange zest, melon berry,  royal velvet, plum pudding, lavendar moon;  scarlet jewel, pure poppy, autumn rose, summer sunrise, harvest gold, lemon tart

CASology ~ Spring

So many wonderful blossoms appear to show signs of spring.  One of my favorite here in the Pacific Northwest is the blossom of the Dogwood Trees.  I think I really prefer the white blossoms against the beautiful green foliage, but I have a pink Dogwood in the yard, actually it is in my daughter's yard now since they live in that house.  The tree was given to my husband's grandmother, Nana, when she was living with us back in the early 80's.  She was a very special lady and we were blessed to have her live with us for several years before passing away.  Our daughters had a wonderful relationship with their great-grandma!
This card is for the

stamp:  Pink Paisley dogwood stamp, PTI Swoosh
